OSU Salary Transparency

We use PostHog to understand how people use this site so we can make it better and fix confusing parts. In plain English, we track how the tool is used, not private messages or account passwords.

• What we collect: searches you run, filters you change, which result cards are opened, when more results are loaded, when historical charts are toggled, and when links/correction buttons are clicked.
• What we include with events: page path, search text (limited length), number of results, and basic dataset context (latest classified/unclassified snapshot dates).
• Why we collect it: to find zero-result searches, improve search relevance, understand which features are useful, and prioritize bug fixes and UX improvements.
• What we do not collect here: account passwords, payment info, or private direct messages.
• Control: Browser Do Not Track is respected.

Inflation-adjusted views use the CPI-U West region series (All items, not seasonally adjusted; 1982-84=100), published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (series CUUR0400SA0).

• Appt Percent: The percentage of a full-time appointment (FTE). E.g., 50% means the employee works half-time (0.5 FTE).
• Annual Salary Rate: The base salary rate if the position were 100% full-time (1.0 FTE). Actual earnings are calculated as (Salary Rate × Appt Percent).
• Posn-Suff: Position Number and Suffix. A unique identifier for a specific job seat within the university system.
• Adj Service Date: The date used to calculate seniority and benefits, which may differ from the original "First Hired" date due to breaks in service.
• Classified: Roles represented by SEIU 503 (Sublocal 083).
• Unclassified: Faculty, professional faculty, and administrators not represented by the union.
